If you’ve been looking for a vintage bridal shoe and happen to be a size 7, these romantic vintage wedding shoes by Peter Fox might be what you’ve been searching for. Made in Italy, they lace up with cream-colored ribbons and have been worn just once. So pretty for those Victorian, Art Deco or Flapper dresses. Or even with a shorter dress that poufs out… you know which kind I’m thinking of. The eBay bidding ends March 6, 2010 and starts at $30. Wow!

Peter Fox has been making Italian shoes for the fine ladies of Broadway, film, television & the wedding aisle for nearly 30 years. The site is filled with vintage-inspired & modern styles for brides, though not all are as lovely or refined as this pair. And they certainly don’t start at $30! At right, Annabel (sale price: $296) has a decorative fan & beaded brooch, as seen in “The Butcher’s Wife” with Demi Moore. Below, Fleurette (sale price: $280) has a decorative fan & faux pearl brooch. Both are Italian silk-satin with a wearable 2-inch heel.

Does a vintage wedding and/or a vintage-style dress require vintage-style shoes? Of course not. The choice is yours. But true vintage wedding shoes that are in good enough condition to wear as well as comfortable enough to boot are pretty rare finds. It’s nice to know that new, vintage-style shoes, though more expensive, are an easy click away.

I’ve been wanting to start doing these little eBay featurettes for a while now. The eBay world has some crazy pretty things for weddings, home, your whole life. Even if you’re not keen on the auction game (and there are many reasons why you wouldn’t be…), there are loads of one-click “Buy It Now” listings, no mean, cut-throat auctioning necessary. I’ll cover both (possibly throwing in some etsy items, too), just so you don’t miss out on any goodies. This week, I present (sticking with our Something Blue theme from yesterday’s vintage post) …
Wedding? Rehearsal dinner? Anywhere, this dress screams out to be taken to a celebration!
Vintage ’60s blue silk party dress with ostrich feathers. Adorable vintage 1960s dress by Jean Louis (the designer behind Marilyn’s “Happy Birthday Mr. President” dress!) … A mod, soft baby blue silk A-line dress with soft pale blue ostrich feather trim around the hem. Long sleeves with zippers at the cuff; zippers up the back; completely lined. Size small. I just want to see this on a dance floor, just once in my life.
Bidding starts at $189. Auction ends Feb. 25, 2010.

Vintage ’50s Blue Side Clasp Clutch Purse Handbag. Is this darling or what? The gold-tone kiss lock is on the side! Faux blue leather with black faille fabric lining. Very 1950s, sassy and smart.
Buy It Now: $35. Listing ends March 16, 2010.
Vintage Powder Blue Open Crown Hat Veil with Bow. Don’t let the solemn look on the model’s face distract you from what could be a phenomenal wedding topper (on your head, not your cake, of course.) The seller doesn’t provide any real detail, but if you click the “Ask a question” link on the item page, you can email and ask away.
Buy It Now: $29.99. Listing ends March 13, 2010.

As it is Christmas Eve, we are saving our new batch of vintage items for next Thursday and adding so, so many wonderful new ones at that time. You’re likely already settled in with family and friends for the holiday, not on the internet shopping, anyway! Though, if you are, take a look at this lovely vintage 1960s goddess gown.

It could be a really unusual vintage wedding gown choice for the right bride in the right location. A steal at $158! Its ivory & silver beading is similar to our little floral beaded cutch from Japan, just one of the vintage goodies coming next week…

Most of my favorite eBay treasures, I have found accidentally. A casual search for one thing has led unexpectedly to a rather frenzied search for another. A particularly interesting item usually prompts me to peek at what else the seller has up for bid. So, it’s apropos that my own wedding gown comes from eBay, spotted when on the cyber prowl for something else entirely.

She’s a real vintage cupcake, a 1950s Priscilla of Boston gown. Yes, the same makers you see advertised in Martha Stewart Weddings, but for much less, of course, when not purchased new. The color is an ivory buttercream; the billowy skirt in balloons of silk is complete decadence. Daughters of both President Johnson and President Nixon chose P.O.B. gowns, as did Grace Kelly (for her bridesmaids) in 1956. They offer six collections now. Designs start at $1,200 and go up, up and away from there.
I’m a big believer in vintage & recycled wedding goods if they happen to work for you. EBay is just one of many terrific resources. If you’ve never tried it, learn more from my article on buying smart via eBay for your wedding (and learn the price tag of this gown) here.
