I loved weddings before I had ever attended one. I was quite young in the late 1970s when the invitations appeared in the mailbox for my parents — oversized creamy envelopes with calligraphy on the front. “Why can't I go?” I would ask, fingering the thick paper, incredulous as I envisioned it: a party without children! I would watch my parents dress up and leave the house as I wondered the rest of the night about this mysterious celebration. I was consumed by dreams of lavish décor, dinner, music, and dancing into the night, even as my babysitter pulled up the covers and turned out the light. In the morning, I would find it on the counter: a little white box with a perfectly square piece of cake inside, all atop a foil-embossed napkin with two names and a date. Always it was (in those less creative days) white cake with white icing — my first real taste of weddings. If having wedding cake for breakfast tasted this good and made an ordinary Sunday feel rather grand and important, I could only imagine how exciting the wedding had been!

All grown up, I spent years as a Weddings editor (including several years at Bridal Guide magazine), and have always enjoyed helping brides and grooms find fresh new ideas and products to create a unique celebration. But there always seemed to be something missing. Hopefully we have found it for you here…
